Menlo Park Academy’s Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Team regularly meets with small groups to help enhance emotional literacy, grow social skills, and address the specific social-emotional needs of gifted children. The team also meets with individual children. The team continuously assesses students’ needs, proactively provides programming, and responds with interventions as needed.
Four staff members comprise the SEL Team who serves the students at Menlo Park Academy:
The SEL Team meets with all incoming and transfer students to develop a rapport, assist with their adjustment, and introduce them to Menlo Park Academy culture. The team collaborates with faculty members to address developmentally appropriate age / grade-level presentations on topics, including empathy, conflict resolution, effective ways to deal with stress, and preparation for transitioning to high school.
