Since its inception 13 years ago, the school had relied on contributions from its families, friends, staff, and board members as part of its budget, all of whom contribute to the school’s largest fundraising campaign — the Annual Appeal.
The Annual Appeal at Menlo Park Academy is an ongoing campaign to raise money to meet the operational needs of the school.
Community Schools in Ohio are funded differently than public districts. While both are public schools with their main funding source coming from the state budget, local districts receive additional local funds that community (charter) schools can’t access. Because of this funding model, charter schools are forced to operate on significantly less revenue than the average school district — usually 50% less!. To make up this financial gap, we rely on the support of our community to continue offering the unique MPA experience our students deserve.
Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to put the money to work where it’s needed most, to ensure we are offering every child the best experience we can. This campaign is an ongoing effort throughout the school year, and your Annual Fund gift will be put to work immediately.
