Cub Scouts in Pack 110, sponsored by Menlo Park Academy, competed in their Pinewood Derby on April 24, with families participating from the comfort of their homes because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Races were streamed live from the MPA gymnasium.
The Pinewood Derby is the wood car racing event for the Scouts of America, in which scouts build and shape their own miniature race cars from a 9-piece kit. The event first began in 1953 and has grown in popularity since then.
Each Cub Scout (made up of boys and girls in our Menlo Family Cub Scout Pack), designed and built their own Pinewood Derby racer from a block of wood and a kit from the Scout Shop (that includes axles and plastic wheels). Scouts then used their creativity in carving their car before adding colors and designs of their choice.
